Themes & Abstract Categories
Participants are invited to submit abstract proposals for pre-conference session, oral and poster presentations and symposia, as well as research-to-practice-lab session and match-making session for the 2027 AIESEP Congress.
The theme of the 2027 AIESEP Congress is “Bridging the gap: from theory to everyday practice in physical education”.
The scientific program focuses on various disciplinary fields and perspectives. The submissions are categorized into the following themes:

- Curriculum, Assessment, and Innovation

Presentation Formats
All submissions must be original (i.e. your own work) and relevant to the conference themes provided. Abstracts for oral presentations, posters or symposiums should contain previously unpublished information.

Pre-conference session
Pre-conference sessions are designed to provide in-depth and interactive learning opportunities prior to the main AIESEP 2027 conference programme. These sessions offer a platform for professional development, collaboration, and engagement with current research and professional practice in physical education, sport pedagogy, and related fields. Pre-conference sessions are submitted by email to the organisation.

Oral Presentation
Oral presentations provide an opportunity to share recent research findings and engage with the audience. Each presentation consists of a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute discussion led by the session chair.

Research
Poster Presentation
Poster presentations provide an interactive and visually engaging format for sharing research, practical innovations, and professional experiences. Accepted abstracts will be presented during a dedicated poster session. Authors are responsible for preparing their poster following the conference guidelines and template.

Research
Symposium
A symposium is a session provided by 3-6 researchers dedicated to a single topic or theme. A symposium is scheduled for 75 minutes. One possible structure of the symposium: The Chair of the Symposium introduces the Symposium background and theme (15 min), three presenters each have 15 minutes to present, and, in the end, Chair leads an open discussion (15 min).

Interactive
Research-to-Practice Lab
A Research-to-Practice Lab is an interactive and practice-oriented session focused on bridging research and professional practice in physical education. Participants actively explore the application of evidence-informed innovations in practice. Labs may include practical tools, pedagogical approaches, digital applications, or interventions, and can take place in classrooms or sports halls.

Match-making session
Match-making sessions are interactive networking sessions aimed at bridging the gap between researchers and fostering international collaboration among researchers and practitioners. Participants briefly introduce a research idea, project, or methodological initiative, followed by open discussion and exchange with other attendees.

Oral Presentation
Format
Oral presentations provide an opportunity to share recent research findings and engage with the audience. Each presentation consists of 10-minute presentation and 5-minute discussion
Submission requirements
Submissions must include the title, names and affiliations of all presenters, and an abstract of maximum 300 words with 3–5 keywords. Abstracts must follow this structure:

Poster Presentation
Format
Poster presentations provide an interactive and visually engaging format for sharing research, practical innovations, and professional experiences. Accepted posters will be presented during a dedicated poster session.
Submission requirements
Submissions must include the title, names and affiliations of all presenters, and an abstract of maximum 300 words with 3–5 keywords. Abstracts must follow this structure:

Additional Information
- Poster presenters will be assigned a display session upon acceptance
- Authors are responsible for preparing and printing their poster according to the conference guidelines
- Posters must be prepared in A0 portrait format!!

Symposium
Format
A symposium brings together multiple presenters around a shared topic or theme and is designed to stimulate dialogue and discussion from different perspectives. Symposia typically include 3 to 6 presenters, are scheduled for 75 minutes, and are led by a symposium chair.
Submission requirements
The symposium chair must submit:
- Background and Rationale
- Purpose of the Symposium
- Clearly state the aims of the symposium
- Explain what the symposium seeks to contribute to the field
- Coherence Across Presentations
- Explain how the presentations are connected
- Describe the overarching narrative or conceptual thread
- Contribution to Research and Practice
- Describe theoretical and practical implications
- Audience Engagement
- Briefly explain how interaction/discussion with the audience will be facilitated
Each individual symposium presentation must include:
- An abstract (maximum 300 words)
- Keywords (minimum 3, maximum 5)
Abstracts must follow the structure below:

Additional Information
- Once the symposium chair submits the symposium proposal, invited presenters will be able to attach their individual abstracts to the symposium submission
- The symposium chair is responsible for coordinating the submission, confirming all presenters, and ensuring that all individual abstracts are attached to the symposium proposal
- Presenting in a symposium does not preclude submission of an additional individual abstract
- Priority will be given to symposia featuring international collaboration and diversity in geography, gender, and institutional representation

Pre-Conference Session
Format
Pre-conference sessions are designed to provide in-depth and interactive learning opportunities prior to the main conference programme. The 2 to 4 hours sessions (half-day formats may be considered) may include workshops, seminars, masterclasses, or collaborative working sessions.
Practical information
- Pre-conference sessions will take place prior to the official start of the conference
- Additional registration may be required for participation
- Accepted facilitators are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs (unless otherwise specified)

Research-to-Practice Lab
Format
Research-to-Practice Labs are interactive and practice-oriented sessions focused on bridging research and professional practice in physical education. Research-to-Practice Labs may be submitted as 45- or 90-minute sessions. It is an interactive, practice-oriented session in which you present a tangible evidence-informed product – such as an assessment instrument, feedback tool, pedagogical material, instructional model, digital application, intervention, or professional development tool – and guide participants through an experiential exploration of its use. Participants actively experiment with, test, use, implement, or analyze the innovation, while you provide explanations of the underlying theoretical and empirical foundations.
Submission requirements
Proposals must include:
- Title of the session
- Names, affiliations, and contact details of all facilitators
- A concise abstract (maximum 300 words)
- Description of the background and purpose of the session
- A general description of the content and structure of the session
- Description of how participants will engage during the session
Upon acceptance, the organising committee will contact presenters to further coordinate the Research-to-Practice Lab.

Match-Making Session
Format
Match-making sessions are interactive networking sessions aimed at bridging the gap between researchers and fostering international collaboration. Match-Making Sessions last up to 45 minutes. In a match-making session, you introduce a new research idea or project, a methodology you wish to (further) develop, a topic for a potential review article, or something similar. The common thread is that it should be something for which you may want to seek collaboration with other AIESEP researchers. You briefly present your idea, after which the majority of the session is dedicated to spontaneous knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas among participants. You are welcome to use a specific activity format, as long as the session is interactive and allows as many participants as possible to engage actively. The proposer leads the session, supported by a session facilitator.
