The Netherlands is known for its windmills, tulips, and wooden shoes, but there is more to it than that! If you have some time to spare, we have a few tips for you.
Eindhoven
The city of Eindhoven and surroundings itself is home to a number of beautiful sights, and if you are there anyway, they are well worth a visit.
Stratumseind
Eindhoven’s lively entertainment district. Do not go if a football match is currently taking place. It gets really crowded then, and you run the risk of standing among the PSV fans while wearing the wrong shirt.
Van Abbemuseum
The Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven is a leading center for contemporary art with an international collection of over 3,000 works, ranging from modern masters to artists such as Dumas and Kensmil. The museum experimentally explores the relationship between art and society. Additionally, it functions as a creative laboratory with free mini tours, education and inclusion programs, workshops, the Children’s Art Club, and a museum café. Through international collaboration, a place full of creative cross-pollination, wonder, and inspiration is created.
Van Gogh Village Nuenen
Nuenen can rightfully call itself Van Gogh Village. There is no place in the Netherlands where you can so literally walk in the footsteps of this famous painter. Vincent lived here for a significant part of his life and painted a number of table settings and locations that still exist. The area where the AIESEP 2027 International Conference is taking place also features a Van Gogh location, namely the Genneper watermill. Within walking distance of the venue.
DAF Museum
The DAF Museum in Eindhoven is a popular museum dedicated to the history and vehicles of Van Doorne’s Automobiel Fabriek (DAF). It showcases the development of the brand from its founding as a small blacksmith shop in 1928 to the modern truck manufacturer of today.
Also an extensive collection of over 100 vehicles, including classic DAF passenger cars (such as the famous DAF 600 with the ‘clever gearstick’), military vehicles, rally cars, and iconic trucks. • Reconstructions: rebuilt workshops, historic offices, and DAF dealers from bygone eras.
